In America!

We spent the last two weeks hanging out in America.  We began recording our second album at Tidal Sound Studios with drummer and engineer Seth Kearns.  We also had some time to film a music video and play a few shows, including a packed house at Parkside Lounge in New York City.  Expect the new album and music video sometime around the new year. Here are a few photos:

Shanghai 24/7 Launch

If you haven't checked it out yet, Shanghai247.net is a fantastic art/music/culture site for the Shanghai scene.  To celebrate the launch of their new website, they are throwing a launch party at Shanghai's best rock venue, Yuyintang, this Friday (March 25th) at 9:00. The Song Dynasty will join The Horde of legendary beat poet/folk rocker Ho-Tom The Conquerer for the opening set.  Rumor has it that this set will be a non-stop medley of all your favorite Ho-Tom tales.  Also performing will be X is Y, Duck Fight Goose, and Boys Climbing Ropes - all amazing Shanghai bands.  Don't miss it.

An Evening of Epic Music 酷乐之夜

The Song Dynasty and frequent collaborator Ho-Tom The Conquerer are teaming up to present "An Evening of Epic Music" at Bee Dee's Music Bar on Friday March 18th.  This night of all original music will open with a mighty set from Ho-Tom (Tom Mangione) and fellow hordesmen Fierce Franco (Franco Rodriguez) on mandolin and George the Goliath (George Wyndham) on harmonica.  Next, The Song Dynasty will take the stage armed with loop pedals, odd meters, and new songs about worms and ancient chinese instruments.  And for a third and especially epic set, the two bands will join together to play Ho-Tom's more (pardon the redundancy) EPIC pieces about Kings, Queens, Swedish furniture, Chinese politicians and beyond.  And if that is not enough, this same EPIC sextet will be performing at Yu Yin Tang on Friday, March 25th, at the Shanghai 24/7 party.  Epic.

Lu Wan Rock

This week the band is featured in a great Shanghai-based blog about music, recording and gear called Lu Wan Rock.  Click on the gadgetry below to read it.
